Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for hematology/oncology patients, including those receiving chemotherapy.
- Manage lines, chest tubes, and complex cases in a high-acuity setting.
- Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and communicate with the healthcare team.
- Accurately document in Epic EMR and maintain patient records.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Float to other medical-surgical units within the nurse's skill set as required.
- Participate in orientation, training, and adherence to hospital and unit policies.
Requirements
- Experience: Level 1 trauma experience required; large facility and high-acuity background preferred. Hematology/Oncology and chemotherapy experience preferred but not required.
- Licenses & Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred for charge RNs.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor's degree).

- EMR: Epic Systems – EpicCare Inpatient, EMR 2014 Certified Suite
- Unit: 5 South Hematology Oncology (32 beds)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5–1:6, adjusted for higher acuity
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (7a–7p or 7p–7a)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
- Holiday Requirement: Rotational basis with staff
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: Within skill set to other med-surg units
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Solid, professional color; scrubs not provided
