Description
Join Our Team at Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital — Opening Spring 2026!
Western Pennsylvania’s Only Independently Owned, Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Now Hiring: Emergent Care Veterinarians
Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital is expanding our current Urgent Care service into a true Emergent Care Department — designed for veterinarians who want to practice comprehensive, high-quality medicine without the demands of overnight or holiday shifts.
What Is Emergent Care?
Our Emergent Care model bridges the gap between general practice and emergency medicine. Unlike traditional urgent care centers that offer limited diagnostics and treatments, Safe Haven is equipped for comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment — empowering you to manage complex cases from start to finish.
You’ll have the tools, resources, and space to provide advanced diagnostics and procedures in a collaborative environment — all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- No overnight, Sunday, or holiday shifts – enjoy balance while still practicing high-level medicine
- State-of-the-art facilities, including a spacious treatment area, a dedicated procedure room, and a peaceful euthanasia suite
- Highly skilled and enthusiastic nursing team that loves what they do and supports you every step of the way
- Collaborative environment with direct access to specialists and advanced imaging
- A culture that respects your expertise, encourages medical excellence, and values teamwork
Our hospital operates 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, providing you with the opportunity to treat urgent and emergent cases during the hours when pets and their families most often need help.
If you’re passionate about practicing comprehensive medicine in a supportive, forward-thinking environment, we’d love to meet you. This is your chance to help shape the next evolution of Emergent Care.
Our Mission: Your Pet Is Our Pet.
At Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital, compassion and excellence go hand in hand. We are proud to be the only independently owned, multi-specialty veterinary hospital in Western Pennsylvania — and one of the few across the Western PA and Eastern Ohio region.
In a world increasingly dominated by corporate ownership, we stand apart: veterinarian-owned, veterinarian-led, and purpose-driven. That independence means you’ll practice medicine your way — supported by skilled colleagues and advanced technology — without corporate oversight or production quotas.
Why Independence Matters
- True medical freedom: Practice medicine guided by your expertise and your patient’s needs — not corporate metrics.
- Your voice matters: With no unnecessary layers of corporate management, your input directly shapes our hospital’s priorities, protocols, and growth.
- Veterinarian-led decisions: Equipment, staffing, and policy decisions are made by veterinarians, for veterinarians.
- Meaningful work-life balance: Sustainable scheduling, adequate staffing, and a culture that values your personal time.
- Collaborative, team-based culture: Built on mutual respect, not competition.
